De spraakherkenning werkt zeer goed voor contacten. Hij herkent bijna altijd welke persoon we proberen te bellen. Helaas kunnen we niet hetzelfde vertellen voor de muziek. Vorallem das anpassen der Lautschrift ist eine sehr praktische Sache, wenn auch nicht ganz einfach. Somit kann man die Rufnamen aufnehmen obschon man Kollegen unter dem richtigen Namen gespeichert hat was durchaus Sinn machen kann und die Erkennung allenfalls weiter erhöht. Dank diesem Features und der recht guten Erkennungsrate könnte man es auch als iPhone 3GS Besitzer durchaus in seine Sammlung aufnehmen.

Some of the included customization functions in Vocalia include splitting first and last names of contacts, activating a vibration to know when to begin speaking, proximity control to activate Vocalia when you move the iPhone to your face, the ability for the app to understand English, French, or German and defining vocal shortcuts for a contact name, for example saying “My best friend” instead of “Mike”.
I really like that Vocalia provides much flexibility in terms of customization, as this is not present with the Voice Control on the iPhone 3GS. These options give you a lot more control over the app and can result in more accurate voice commands.

Après quelques minutes de paramétrages des noms les plus "problématiques", Vocalia s'est trouvé être extrêmement fiable. En fait, rares sont les fois où le nom n'était pas reconnu et uniquement dans un endroit passablement bruyant. Pas besoin de hurler son nom au téléphone, le simple énoncé à distance raisonnable et Vocalia compose déjà le numéro voulu. Simple, rapide, efficace, une application qui évite de chercher parmi des centaines de contacts, même parfois parmi un nombre trop croissant de favoris, sensé être plus réduits.

Wenn man an entsprechender Stelle im Setup von “Manuell” auf “Stimme” umstellt, funktioniert, die Auswahl der Personen und Telefonnummer absolut einwandfrei!

Vocalia is also easier to use than the other voice dialers. There is no “press to speak” button that one must hold down while talking. Instead, the great purple eye listens to your voice and the wave form animation shown on-screen confirms that it is hearing you. The animation is cool and useful.

My buying advice is that for those for whom voice dialing is indispensible, Vocalia represents the best of the available apps. With a few more finishing touches, this would be a five-star app. It is quite good. If you have any French contacts, its bilingualism is a necessity.

Update: Auto-dial has now been added as a feature in the latest Vocalia update. The feature works exactly as I would expect. It is an option, so once you have Vocalia perfectly trained for your contacts’ names, you can comfortably allow Vocalia to Autodial for you. A timed dial feature is also available, to allow you a moment to cancel the call if desired. I’ve updated the rating of Vocalia to five moose.

A l’usage l’application peut s’avérer assez pratique dans des cas de figure ou la saisie crispée sur le clavier virtuel s’avère impossible, à vélo ou en mouvement par exemple. (...)

Conclusion: Comme logiciel de reconnaissance vocale disponible sur l’AppStore, Vocalia est le meilleur, pour nous francophones, et de plus, il requière le moins d’intervention manuelle sur l’appareil comparativement aux autres solutions préalablement testées.

Vocalia is a good, cool looking, voice dialing option that actually works.

How well does Vocalia recognize names? I tested it by reading the first 100 names in Contacts. Without training Vocalia, it was able to correctly recognize 98 of the names -- that is, it put them on a screen with three of the closest sounding names. For 83 of the names, the correct name was at the top of the list. The two names that weren't recognized properly were Guilherme and Guiseppe.(...)
